Recent Open Championship history at Royal Troon

With past Open Champions including Bobby Locke, Arnold Palmer, Tom Weiskopf and Tom Watson, Royal Troon has enjoyed a rich golfing history that few golf courses can compete with. It was the most recent staging of The Open at Royal Troon that is sure to live long in the memory. Henrik Stenson became the first Swedish golfer to claim the Claret Jug with a stunning performance of -20 for 4 rounds which included a final round of 63 (-8). The final round saw Stenson do battle with Phil Mickelson, who was looking to claim his 2nd Open Championship having triumphed at Muirfield in 2013, in what many consider to be the best final round of an Open Championship since The Duel in the Sun at Turnberry. Mickelson’s 65 saw him take 2nd place which was 11 shots better than 3rd placed J.B. Holmes, showing the distance between them and the chasing pack that week.
